Bestway has been right up at the top of the mountain of spa brands for well over a decade now. Their newest SaluSpa models have made quite a lot of splashes (pun intended) in the hot tub world mainly due to their phenomenal build quality and vast variety of sizes and prices. In this SaluSpa Miami review, we will go over how functional this tub exactly is and see how well it stands against some of its main competitors from Intex and Coleman.
Overview and Features
The design, shape, and functionality here is typical to some of the best inflatable hot tubs on the market and comes at a reasonable price that is on-par with most of its competition. That is, of course, if you count it as a 4-person model, while it really isn’t. The capacity here is good for a 4-person family but having 4 full-grown adults inside will be a squeeze. Let’s talk about the construction and material quality first…
Construction & Build Quality
Bestway hot tubs have always prided themselves with a superior build quality compared to other models for one unique reason – they use their patented Tritech material technology. What this means is that basically every part of the inflatable hot tub is a tri-ply fortified material which is puncture-resistant, as well as UV-resistant. The Tritech sidewalls will also keep their shape over longer periods of time even if they’re constantly exposed to direct sunlight, while other models will wrinkle after a few years.
The sidewall’s interior features the common I-beam construction that more and more inflatable hot tubs adopt. This design ensures structural rigidity no matter where you lean on it or how hard you push it. While it is rigid, it doesn’t take too much of the softness of the wall for which is responsible the top part of the sidewall which is filled with air only and has no beams in it.
In terms of dimensions, the Bestway Miami Hot Tub is one of the smallest inflatable tubs out there. Even though it is advertised as a 4-person tub, it will struggle with fitting four adults in there. The internal diameter is just 52 inches which is 5-10 inches less than some other 4-person models on the market. For a 4-person family with 2 adults and 2 kids, however, this is the best pick.
The outer diameter of this tub is 71 inches which is on-par with most other 4-person models and is compact enough to be placed on your porch or a small patch in your backyard. Just make sure that the ground beneath it is soft since the floor padding is not very comfortable and doesn’t smooth out bumps and rough surfaces too well.
If you want something bigger and much more premium both in terms of performance and its price, I suggest checking out my Intex PureSpa 28409E Round Hot Tub review! Despite being expensive, this Intex model is quite feature-rich and is an excellent addition for someone who is looking for a bigger hot tub.
Heater & Jets
Hydrotherapy has been at the core of muscle regeneration and therapeutic treatments for athletes for the good part of the 21st century so far. This is why the Miami hot tub has 120 bubble jets that soak your muscles and relax your body after a long day. They are turned on and controlled by the control panel at the top of the pump. That pump is also responsible for operating all of the bubble jets apart from heating up the water and keeping the sidewalls inflated. What’s great here is the number of jets. Typically, inflatable tubs have around 15-20 jets per person, while this 4-person model has almost twice as that giving everyone inside a good time.
The water heating, however, isn’t as impressive. The tub uses a standard heating mechanism which increases the water temperature with a few degrees every hour. While that is fairly slow, the relatively low water volume allows for the water to be fully heated in less than a day of you turning it on. There is a delay start function too that lets you set the heating up timer 3 days in advance. The maximum water temperature you can get out of this tub is 104 degrees Fahrenheit. While that isn’t very high it isn’t bad either and is generally enough to let you experience most of the hot tub health benefits these models have to offer.
Now, let’s see if there is anything special regarding the whole setup process of the Bestway Miami hot tub…
As with most other inflatable models, this one doesn’t require any additional tools to be set up. Everything you need comes in the package and all you practically have to do is connect the multi-function pump to your water source in one end and to the hot tub in the other. There are two separate entries for air and water. The air blower function controls both the inflation and the bubble jets. All of those features are controlled through the panel at the top of the multi-function pump.
If you live in a region that has hard water, it will be a good idea to invest in a hard-water treatment accessory for your hot tub. Hard water spots tend to degrade the material quality of the tub over time and are also not very healthy for people with sensitive skin. Some more expensive models come with these in the package but tend to cost quite a lot more than the mid-tier price tag of the Miami hot tub. Don’t worry about the installation steps, however, since you will be getting a DVD that covers all of that.
In terms of additional features, there isn’t much to mention here apart from the 72-hours delayed start function and the Chemconnect dispenser. The dispenser is actually now an industry standard for most inflatable hot tubs and has almost completely displaced floating chlorine tablets which are expensive and tend to ruin the experience. In your pack, you also get 2 filter cartridges and a chemical floater in case you want to use it instead of the Chemconnect one. With all that, you get a DVD that covers the setup process and gives you a few maintenance tips!
Advantages and Disadvantages
- Decent price to value ratio
- Heats up a little bit faster than other 4-person saunas
- Easy to maintain and move around
- 120 bubble jets
- Stable sidewalls
- Very comfortable
- Easy to use controls
- Cannot fit 4 adults comfortably
- The floor padding isn’t very thick and the hot tub suffers from rough surfaces
Conclusion and Rating
The Bestway Miami 4-Person Hot Tub is one of the highest-selling models in its class for a few major reasons. First of all, it is an excellent compact addition to any backyard and is extremely easy to move around and maintain due to its smaller size. The water volume isn’t too big either, making it easier to warm up to 104 degrees and maintain that temperature even in colder days. However, with the smaller size it also severely limits how many adults you can fit in there. While it is an excellent hot tub for a 4-person family, it cannot hold 4 adults comfortably. As a whole, it has enough features to make you comfortable and is quite durable to return its investment over the years in which it will work well. I rated it with four and a half out of five stars!
