RDX

RDX has been one of the newest sports brands that took the market by storm. From budget training gear to high-end combat equipment, they have it all. In this review, I will go over their Sauna Suit for Running, MMA, and Exercise which is one of the most well-balanced options out there currently. There are quite a few innovations involved in making this particular sauna suit, and that bumps up the price a little, but there are plenty of advantages that make up for that.

Our verdict: Affordable, durable, and well-designed, the RDX Sauna suit is pretty much everything you can ask for. It is ideal for runners and people who want to train boxing or kickboxing and break a sweat during that. The fit is nice, even though it is on the slim side, and there are plenty of sizes to choose from. Still, there are some odor buildups after continuous use, so make sure you wash it regularly.

Overview & Features

This RDX MMA sauna suit can be summed up rather easily – it is a good all-rounder. It doesn’t shine in almost any of its features but also doesn’t have too many downsides that can put you off. It does shine on one particular occasion though, and that is running and training martial arts like boxing or kickboxing. The main thing that helps this suit perform well under these conditions are the materials. Let’s talk about that now…

Materials used

The materials here are typical for most sauna suits, yet they are combined in a way that combines comfort, practicality, and effectiveness. The outer layer of the suit is made out of synthetic nylon fabric which is fairly durable and doesn’t make too much noise when you’re wearing it. The inner layer, though, is polyurethane. Now, most suits out there have a rubberized inner layer, while polyurethane is slightly lighter and breathable, which is exactly what you need if you plan on wearing the RDX suit throughout your whole workout or run. This, of course, creates an issue where the suit won’t do much of a job if you just put it on for a few minutes, while rubberized suits will quickly heat you up and keep that heat well insulated.

That combination of nylon and polyurethane adds a few advantages, though. One of the bigger ones is that it can be safely put in a washing machine and later machine-dried as well. Most other models cannot do that and will have to be hand washed and then hand dried. It is also safe to put this suit under direct sunlight when it is drying out after a workout. Still, these materials do allow for bad odors to build up over time, so make sure you let it dry after workouts and wash it often.

Size

In terms of sizing, it is quite true to its sizes and you can pick your regular size, as that will most likely fit even above a full layer of clothing. What I don’t like is that it doesn’t come in an extra small size, meaning women and kids won’t be able to use it unless they choose the S version which can be a bit too bulky. It also doesn’t go too far in its sizes and the biggest one you can get is only 2XL, while some other models on the market offer 4XL suits. Still, the fit is as expected and if something isn’t right you can easily return it and get a different size.

Ventilation

RDX

RDX hasn’t done too much in terms of ventilation here, as there is no armpit mesh or a mesh between your legs that can prevent your body from quickly overheating. You will find yourself removing the hoodie way too often, especialyl if your workout is more intense than normal.

Cuffs and fit

There are elastic cuffs on the hands and feet as well as the waist. The hoodie has a drawstring that enables it to be fully closed, which helps with heat retention.

The fit is slimmer than you’d expect which is quite practical in case you don’t want to bulk up too much wearing all of your clothes and a sauna suit. That is great for runners that want to sweat a little more but also like to keep their looks relatively the same. What is not so good about this is that it can get in your way when you’re stretching if the size you chose is slightly tighter or you have a lot of clothes beneath it.

Washing and anti-odor properties

As I mentioned, the suit can be washed and dried in a machine which is always a welcome feature that saves some time. That is also good since there are slight odor buildups, especially if you don’t let it dry properly after an intense workout. However, there are some users that complain about the seams tearing up slightly after machine drying it, so if you want to preserve this suit for longer periods, make sure you hang dry it.

Additional Features

There aren’t any additional features that I’d like to point out besides the excellent customer support. That is one of the advantages of buying from a well-established brand that is still actively trying to cover most of the industry with its products. If something goes bad or you don’t like the fit, you can easily contact RDX’s customer support and negotiate a swap or return depending on your issue.

Another thing worth mentioning is that this suit comes in three color options – black with white stripes, black and red, and black and blue.

Conclusion & Rating

Our Rating: (4.5/5)

RDX

As a whole, I can say that the RDX Sauna suit for MMA and training is one of the more well-rounded options out there. It is fairly affordable, even though there are far more expensive products out there. These products, though, aren’t as durable and don’t do such a good job at continuously keeping your body temperature high without overheating you. The cuffs and drawstring hoodie are also a good addition here which makes the suit quite well-enclosed and make it perfect for running on windy days.
